	I have developed and distributed custom personal computer software for the scientific community since 1994. I am particularly interested solving problems in conservation and environmental management.

In cooperation with The Nature Conservancy, I developed the Indicators Of Hydrologic Alteration (IHA) software. This software is used for research and planning in biohydrology and water resource management. It is presently used by about one hundred hydrologists, representing government departments, universities, and conservation organizations in five countries. This is an example of one analysis that is generated by the Indicators Of Hydrologic Alteration (IHA) software.

Construction of a dam on the Roanoke river in North Carolina drastically reduced the size and variability of the largest annual flood downstream. This has grave effects on the reproductive cycles of many plants and animals downstream, as well as on the structure of the river channel. The Indicators of Hydrologic Alteration software is designed to track such damaging trends.

It has been suggested that releasing one small flood during the appropriate season may help to reduce the environmental impact of the dam.
